Volunteer Opportunity: Board of Directors

About the Opportunity:
Girl Guides of Canada (GGC) is seeking two dedicated volunteers to join its Board of Directors as Directors-at-Large. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a national organization committed to empowering girls and youth across Canada.

About Girl Guides of Canada:

GGC is a national membership-based organization with over 100 years of history, providing an all-girl environment where girls and youth can challenge themselves, find their voice, build friendships, and make a difference in the world.

Board Responsibilities:
As the governing body of GGC, the Board of Directors is responsible for:

-Governance, financial oversight, and risk management
-Strategic planning and monitoring organizational performance
-Oversight of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
-Board and Director development and evaluation
-Fund development and external relationships
-Crisis management
-Acting as voting members at the Annual General Meeting

Board Directors serve on a volunteer basis without compensation, but expenses related to Board activities are reimbursed.

Meeting Schedule & Expectations:

-The Board meets 4-5 times per year (a mix of in-person and virtual meetings).
-Meetings are scheduled at least six months in advance, with materials provided two weeks prior.
-All Directors participate in at least one Board Committee.

This is a working board role, requiring between 5-15 hours per month.
